UJI DIAMETER PULI PADA ALATPENCACAH SAMPAH ORGANIK (Pulley Diameter Test of Organic Waste Grater)

Abstract


ABSTRACT

Organic waste grater begins popular in society, either used for compost making or livestock feed. The machine was invented based on society concern for environmental issue. One of the grater was designed by Doni Apriano Purba in Agricultural Engineering Study Program, University of North Sumatra.It can be improved by testing some part of it. This research was about testing some variation of pulley diameter on organic waste grater to improve its capacity. This research had been conducted at Agricultural Engineering Laboratory Agricultural Faculty University of North Sumatra on March- April 2016 using factorial randomized block design with pulley diameters of 7, 8, and 9 inches.The observed parameters in this research were yield, percentage of materials left in appliance, and effective capacity of equipment. The results showed that pulley diameter had highly significant effect on percentage of process capacity, and had no effecton yield and percentage of materials left in appliance. From this research, it can be concluded that the best pulley diameters was 9 inches.

ABSTRAK

 

Alat pencacah sampah organik mulai populer di kalangan masyarakat, baik digunakan untuk pembuatan kompos maupun pakan ternak. Alat tersebut di ciptakan berdasarkan kepedulian masyarakat akan masalah lingkungan. Salah satu alat pencacah sampah organik dirancang oleh Doni Apriano Purba di Program Studi Keteknikan Pertanian Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Sumatera Utara dapat ditingkatkan dengan melakukan pengujian pada beberapa bagian alat. Penelitian ini adalah pengujian berbagai diameter puli pada alat pencacah sampah organik yang diharapkan dapat meningkatkan kapasitas alat tersebut. Penelitian dilakukan padabulan Maret-April 2016 di Labratorium Keteknikan Pertanian Program Studi Keteknikan Pertanian Universitas Sumatera Utara dengan menggunakan model rancangan acak lengkap non faktorial dengan faktor diameter puli 7, 8 dan 9 inci. Pada penelitian ini, parameter yang diamati adalah rendemen, persentase bahan tertinggal di alat dan kapasitas efektif alat. Dari penelitian yang dilakukan, secara umum didapat bahwa uji puli berpengaruh nyata terhadap kapasitas efektif alat, dan tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap rendemen dan persentase bahan teringgal. Secara keseluruhan, perlakuan yang terbaik  yang diperoleh berdasarkan parameter yang ditentukan adalah perlakuan puli berdiameter 9 inchi.
